ISMF INDIVIDUAL WORLD CUP - VAL D'ARAN, SPAIN

LAUSANNE, 8th April 2017 - The last Ismf Individual World Cup of the 2016/17 season took place today under the brilliant blue skies of Val d'Aran, a corner of Spain that is almost surrounded by France. Snow conditions were great despite the strong sunshine and warm temperatures.

The first start was the senior men at 9 am followed by all the other categories at 09.15. A very technical track, the race started from the Beret ski area, taking in two crests, two couloirs with the senior men covering 18 km and 1800 m.

The two Italians, Matteo Eydellin and Damiano Lenzi crossed the line at almost the same time, with Eydallin just ahead of his team mate. Another good race for Jakob Herrmann, Austria whose form  peaked towards the end of the season.

Although the women's race was slightly shorter, it was no less technical. There was no surprise for first place, with Laetitia Roux, France taking the winning place by more than the minutes. Her compatriot, Axelle Mollaret came second with third place going to Katia Tomatis Italy .

Italy fielded a strong team taking first place Espoir Women with Alba de Silvestro, Espoir Men, Federico Nicolini, and once again in the Junior categories with Giulia Murada and Davide Magnini.

Today's race also signed the final points to the Individual Speciality Cup.
